Originally seen as part of the Mod youth movement, although it is unclear, even now, how much of that was genuine, and how much of that was the stylings of their first manager Pete Meaden, Pete Townsend, the leader and main songwriter of the band revisited the Mod concept in the early 1970s for a double album called Quadrophenia.
